Distracted driving

We have received an increasing number of reports from residents concerned about texting whilst driving. As a community that promotes safety first, we encourage residents to avoid using mobile devices whilst driving.

Because text messaging requires visual, manual, and cognitive attention from the driver, it is by far one of the most alarming distractions. The average text message distracts a driver for 4.6 seconds: That’s like driving the length of a football field blind at 55mph.

Being a family community, we have younger residents that are at greater risk of having an accident with a distracted driver.

Distracted driving costs lives, please be proactive and let us not wait for an accident to happen. Make a habit of waiting until it’s safe to use the device, inside and outside of our community.
